Stories on Migration – Sweden Beyond the headlines

Seen through the lens of grass root initiatives in Sweden

An exhibition on how migration is shaping societies, seen through the lens of Swedish grass root civic initiatives in five chapters: Fleeing and arriving, Finding work, Learning Swedish, Meeting people and Affecting attitudes at the House of Sweden in Washington DC. Included in the exhibition are work by the graphic designers Parasto Backman and Erica Jacobson, the photographer Alexander Mahmood, the artist Lisa Stålspets and the fashion collaborative This is Sweden. Part of the exhibition I´m Alive produced by the Museum of Technology in Stockholm, is also show cased. It deals with technology´s crucial role when fleeing and how it can be a question of life or death. A collaboration between House of Sweden & the Swedish Institutet.
